Antique edition of The Magic Fishbone by Charles Dickens, beautifully illustrated by F. D. Bedford. Originally part of Dickens’s Holiday Romance, the story is presented as “a romance from the pen of Miss Alice Rainbird, aged seven.” It follows Princess Alicia, the sensible eldest child of a delightfully chaotic royal family, and a magical fishbone that can grant one carefully chosen wish. F. D. Bedford is also celebrated for illustrating the first edition of J. M. Barrie’s Peter and Wendy.
