Family, love, loss, and personal growth, David Copperfield is considered one of Dickens' most autobiographical works. It is the story of a young boy named David who is born into a middle-class family in 19th century England. After his father dies and his mother remarries, David is sent to work in a factory and is subjected to harsh conditions. He later runs away to his eccentric aunt, Betsey Trotwood, who takes him in and helps him to receive an education. Throughout the novel, David experiences both tragedy and triumph, including the death of his mother, the betrayal of his friend Steerforth, and the love of his life, Dora Spenlow. He also encounters a variety of colorful characters, such as the kindly Mr. Micawber and the cruel Mr. Murdstone. Ultimately, David becomes a successful writer and marries his childhood friend Agnes Wickfield, who has been a source of support and encouragement throughout his journey.
